Brief  History :

Year : 2021-22

Department of Geography & EVS

Geography department of our college conducts various curricular, co-curricular and extra- curricular activities to make awareness about our Nature and planet mother Earth. It also sensitizes our students about our natural resources and current issues. During the year 2021-22, department has conducted online and offline activities as follows-

 

• Environmental Week – Geography department has celebrated environmental week from 14^th June 2021 to 21^st June 2021 online by posting Videos and Poster in students’ groups through Google Classroom to aware them about our Nature.
• Yoga Day - On 21^st June 2021 department and nature club jointly celebrated International Yoga Day under the Title ‘Healthy Natural Habits in our daily life by posting Video and talk on it by Prof Kalpana G. Theme for Yoga day was Yoga for wellness in post Covid- 19.
• Celebration of Ganesha Festival – During post COVID era, first big festival celebration was Ganesha Festival. Department made health awareness within our students by posting online Message posters about Precaution during celebration on Students classroom and communicated them through WhatsApp group.
• Managing COVID Stress – Yoga for wellness leads many activities can manage covid-19 stress by posting Poster in student group, Google Classroom and later discussion on it during online classes.
• Case Studies- Department has presented various case studies on 16^th September 2021 to motivate our students and it also helps them to come out from present situation.
• Awareness – On 14 September 2021, department posted Video on Koyna Dam over flooded due to heavy rains, under the Title ‘Nature Restores’ to make them aware of natural disaster due to man -made activities. Nature always trying to balance natural ecosystem and man-made pollution wash out waste in all forms, clean the mother earth try to come back to its original position.
• Zero waste – 8^th October 2021 based on Eco-friendly Lifestyle – Green Business, Green Product, zero packaging waste in Kerala Fact based Video posted in Google Classroom and talk on it during regular online lecture. 
• Vocal for Local – Awared during Diwali Festival by posting Video on it in Student’s group.
• Health Mantra – 19^th December 2021, department focuses on ‘Nature Watch and Biological Process of our body’ through Health Mantra and talk on it through discussion with students in regular online classes.
• Competition – On 19^th December 2021, department has conducted Article writing competition on ‘Delhi Air Pollution’.
• World Student’ Day – Celebrated World Student’ Day on 15^th October 2021 by providing digital library to develop inborn intelligence of our students.
• Bhugol Day- Celebrated Geography Day on 14^th January 2022 by posting Poster and Video in group.
• Survey – Socio-economic survey conducted in the month of March 2022.

Special Features :

Use of audio-video aid for lectures  such as power point presentation(projector), Computer practical, use of laboratory ,charts, model, computerized graphical presentation ,Field visit, Guest lectures, Remedial lectures, Mentoring activity,Conduct and organized  academic and extracurricular activities  for student’s overall development, students counseling session, Case Studies.

• Participated  and  Published  a  paper  in  One  day  International  Seminar  on  “Status  of  Women  in   Transitional  Societies:  Issues and  Challenges”  held on  25 th January,2014.  Organized by University of Mumbai Centre for Central Eurasian Studies in Collaboration with B.  L.  Amlani College.

• Participated in   one day faculty development workshop   on “Research Proposal”    organized by   Internal Quality Assurance Cell of G.E.S./S.B.V.C.  college , Borivali, delivered by  Dr. Arvind  Arihan ,  on  28^th  September   2013 , of  I.   Y.   College, Jogeshwari (E) Mumbai.
• Participated  in  First  Term  “ Staff  Academic   Programme“(Diwali  Celebration)  on 31^th October  2013.
